Blog 1

I got back into the groove of writing. Right now I'm aiming to make the game in Unity3D. It's a tactical action RPG where you control one character and can use 4 NPCs in your squadron for tactical action RPG combat.

I have most of the mechanics sorted in my head. As for platform release, I'm aiming for the standard of just trying to release it on many platforms as I can. It's only a secondary concern, however.

Depending on how long I want to make, I might make a game before the release of Cauldron Keep, called Kingdoms of the Snow. I say this because when Rhythos is first released, it's only gonna have a 1-1 combat system. I might do a short IF (5 chapters) with my persona-character, Kytaari Bounder.

Nothing is set in stone right now. It all depends on how well I'm willing to let this software wait.

My current plan is to use Rhythos: http://rhythos.com/. It's an RPG developing system that's currently in development. Be looking into it more. I've got an idea what the mechanics of Cauldron Keep should be, so all I gotta do is transcribe it to this new system, once it's released.

In the meantime, I might as well work on the story some more. The lore and storyline, characters, locals, challanges, they're still all kind of sketchy.

Things I need to get done


  • Decide on whether Cauldron Keep should  be made with GM or Inform
  • Develop the mechanics for my RPG system, featured on my homepage
  • Write down some of the details of the plot, setting, and backstory of Cauldron Keep. Maybe do a bit of character sketching as well. I may upload some of my drawings on this blog. I only have average skills as an artist, so you may have to bare with me.
  • When it is decided whether I should make the game with Inform or GM, I'll start scribing the script.
  • Introduce cast on the blog. I'll have to get some of my story details written down before I do this though.
More to come soon. I'll probably work on the game mechanics first. Once the mechanics are out of the way, I'll decide on whether it should be on Inform or GM. Right now I'm getting the hunch I should use Inform. I change my mind a lot.

I have a lot to say, but I want to keep this short. My project's title has changed to Cauldron Keep. It's gonna be made on Gamemaker: http://www.yoyogames.com/gamemaker/studio

I know in the past I have been negligent with this blog. I'll upload clips and pictures every now and then if that keeps the blog running. The game has a lot of RPG elements.

I don't intend on showing the game off on my youtube account until it is done. I look forward to making a walkthrough of it with my youtube account when the time comes. Right now everything is in the planning stage. I can't even give a good synopsis of the story yet. I have a guttural idea of what it should be like, but the creation hasn't solidified enough to give me a substantive view.

If I catch something about the story that's worth of sharing, I'll upload it. Might even upload a few drafts to this Blogger, I don't know, not making any promises just yet.

More on this when I've got some of the preliminary crap out of the way.
